My reasearch paper was on Gene Therapy and how it can help individuals with drug abuse.

Drug abuse

Is the need to take any form of chemical substance to feel "normal. This can lead to many health problems including:

Heart attack
Stroke
Overdose
Death

Addiction can be linked to genetic makeup. some were more likely to become addicted to drugs due to their genes

What is Gen Therapy?

Gene therapy is when fualty genes are replaced by ones that function as they are supposed to. This procedure is not as invasive as traditional forms of medicine such as surgery. This treatment requires the normal copy of a gene to be administered to a patient through an IV in their tissue. This procedure deos have a hefty price tag coming in at $1 million

Using drug abuse would mean more efficiant treatment than rehabilitation/other drugs. It would reduce a patients treatment time and has the potential to cure not just one type of drug abuse.

one of the down sides to Gene therapy is its cost. This means that not a lot of people who need this treatment can afford it.
